The turning point
For too long, cannabis has been reduced to its recreational use and heavily stigmatized. Yet varieties rich in CBD and naturally low in THC offer a completely different approach. They make it possible to enjoy the plant’s many natural compounds without the psychoactive effects sought with traditional cannabis.
The production of CBD oils has also made it possible to offer a healthy alternative to combustion. Without smoke and without tobacco, many people have rediscovered the benefits of cannabis in a modern, simple form suited to everyday life.
Passionate about this plant and convinced of its potential, we began our adventure by growing our first plants in collaboration with market gardeners from the Vully region. This first harvest gave us solid experience and a better understanding of the demands of this new industry.
The company
In 2021, with the support of the GMP-certified CDC Lab in Plan-les-Ouates, we set up our own laboratory: The Green Lab. Since its founding, our goal has remained the same: to offer products of flawless quality.
To achieve this, we chose to invest in purification methods that are rarely used in the CBD field. Today, we are the only company in Switzerland using fractional distillation to purify our extracts. This technology produces extracts of exceptional purity and is reflected directly in the quality, stability, and taste of our products.
Over the years, our expertise has allowed us to expand our range with oils, e-liquids, balms and other products developed to the same demanding quality standards.

The team
My name is Thomas Fardel, founder of Urbanleaf Sàrl, the company that owns The Green Lab brand.
Trained as an agricultural engineer and horticulturist, and passionate about medicinal plants, I devote much of my work to developing manufacturing processes that yield ever purer, higher-quality CBD extracts.
Depending on the needs, we also work with various external specialists: herbalists, pharmacists, partner laboratories, and companies specialised in analysis, approvals and regulatory matters.
This approach allows us to bring together the best expertise around a shared goal: offering safe, effective products manufactured to high standards.
How we work
This is what sets The Green Lab apart today and is one of the pillars of our commitment to our customers.
From field to finished product, we know exactly where every raw material comes from. Wherever possible, we favour vegetable oils from organic farming and guarantee full traceability of our ingredients.
Some extractions are carried out directly to meet specific needs. We also work with a partner laboratory in the canton of Bern, from which we select high-quality Swiss raw extracts.
These extracts are then further processed in our laboratory. Through several purification steps, in particular fractional distillation, we progressively remove impurities to obtain a particularly pure extract.
Every step takes time and precision and involves a deliberate loss of part of the raw material. We stand by this choice: we would rather sacrifice some yield for superior quality than aim for quantity.
